The Old Hills Icelandics herd is made up of a stud together with our riding horses. The riding horses are used from training the youngsters, competition, herding sheep, leisure, and also for introducing people to the Icelandic horse.
Our horses are either British bred or imported. Most of the British bred horses were born at Old Hills, although a notable exception to this is Eldur from Mosshead, who was our first Icelandic horse that we bought in 1986, and was born near Lockerie. We have imported horses from Iceland, Denmark and Germany.
All of our adult horses have been trained in the gaits. We aim to produce good family horses that have clear gaits and are respectful of their owners. |
